And given him a beautiful name

Time of Birth: 2:09 PM, Saturday, August 2, 2003

Baby and parents went home from the hospital on Monday, August 4.

The baby’s name was given to the paternal grandfather, Sri Ghandikota V. Subbarao, in the veranda of Prashanthi Mandhir at around 4:30 p.m., Thursday August 7th 2003.

Svaami first asked Sri Subba Rao what the names of the other grandsons were.  Sri Subba Rao told Svaami that He Himself had named them, and their names were Jayavardhan, Aryavardhan and Harshavardhan.  Svaami thought for a couple of seconds and then said AKSHAYA.  He repeated the name twice and said it loud enough for Sri Subba Rao to hear.  In the process, everyone in the Mandir veranda got to hear the name and later came to congratulate the new grandfather.

Meaning of AKSHAYA
One who is indestructible and ever lasting.
Akshaya is an attribute of divinity.
Lord Krishna says he is Akshaya and he is the everlasting divinity, in chapter 10 of the Geetha.
Akshaya is the name of the last year of the sixty-year cycle of the Indian Calendar.
Svaami’s birth year is Akshaya.
Akshaya is also Sri Subba Rao’s birth year.

May AKSHAYA – true to his name - live a long and happy life.
